Don’t drive drunk! Seriously, cops throughout the burbs love DUI arrests more than they love breaking up teenage house parties, which is saying a lot. Holidays, especially drinking holidays, almost guarantee there will be checkpoints out. Stranded somewhere with your car? Call 800-AAA-HELP and tell the operator you need a "tipsy tow." AAA offers a free ten-mile tow home for drivers and their vehicles. You don’t even have to be a member, which I think is pretty darn generous. Tipsy Tow starts at 6pm tonight and lasts until 6am tomorrow (the 6th). Also, to share some personal knowledge, you can also be arrested for DUI if your keys are in the ignition (regardless of where you are in the car), and you could even be pushing it if you try to sleep it off in your car and your keys are on you. So either be smart and have a DD, be willing to wait for a cab (click for: Walnut Creek, Danville, Lafayette, San Ramon), or take advantage of one of AAA’s free tipsy tows.
