What To Do This Weekend: 9/2–9/5

Happy Labor Day weekend! I know most of you are probably going somewhere fabulous, but I'll be manning the bar at Spoon so I'll be in town all weekend. There's also enough going on that you can feel like you did something if you're stuck in town, even if it's not great. Hell, I'm seeing Shark Night 3D.

Friday, September 2:
Free Bloody Marys: Happy Girl Kitchen, which has been open for a few weeks, is finally having its Grand Opening Party. They'll have complimentary cocktails (free Bloody Marys!), which sounds terrible right now as I chug my coconut water.

Saturday, September 3–Sunday, September 4:
146th Scottish Highland Games: Men in kilts, lots of pipe bands, unusual athletic events, sheep dog trials, and living history displays. For some reason I love living history. Reminds me of LARPing, which I find hilarious. I really only go for the food, celtic jewelry, swinging by my clan, and checking out men in kilts. They'll have free shuttle service to and from the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station (not West).

Sunday, September 4–Monday, September 5:
30th Annual Harvest Wine Celebration: Over 40 wineries in the Livermore Valley will only be open to ticket holders for the celebration of their harvest. What really got me was on Sunday, they'll have a shuttle that will drive you around to the participating wineries. I'm all for safe driving, and I love that $45 will get me entrance to the wineries, tastings, and free transportation. I don't know much about wine, but I'll randomly select some of the participating wineries: La Rochelle Winery, Crooked Vine Winery, Wente Vineyards Estate Winery, and Concannon Vineyard. You also get a commemorative glass and discounts on the wine. Monday lacks the shuttle, but boasts diverse activities such as aroma bars (to help you recognize the smells in wines), cooking demonstrations, and wine storage secrets. I really, really want to go.
